Lately I have been creatively stuck. I have been seeking out creative projects as a distraction tool, to distract me from certain things going on in my life right now.
But also, I want more creativity in my life. Right now, that looks like following painting tutorials online, and also crocheting. Below are some things I have crocheted. I will mention the youtube channel where I followed the tutorial, and I will also link everything below, in case you want to have a go too!
This was a basket that I bought a big 8mm hook for – it was also my first time using two types of yarn at the same time. I really liked this, and was super happy with how it turned out. I can’t take credit for this pattern obviously, as I’m a beginner crocheter, and I followed a tutorial on youtube for this from the channel called “Bella Coco”.
I must admit however that I changed it a little bit at the end, and instead of doing the last row of crochet that she does in the video, I merely did slip stitches and folded over the edge of the basket, as seen in the picture.
For this incredibly cute flower garland, I must give full credit to the youtube creator “Hooked By Robin”. I absolutely was hooked on making flower after flower for this garland, because they were super simple and quick to make, and the repetition provided me with a kind of calming meditative effect.
I think this is why I really like crocheting – because while you do have to put in the effort at first to learn the pattern, once you get the hang of it, there’s something very soothing about the repetition and motion of crocheting.
These monstera leaves and leaf vine were both from tutorials that I followed on the youtube channel called “Make it Yourself by Papari” and I must say – the tutorials were super easy to follow and I really enjoyed making these. I’ve been very much into the decorative crochet elements – evidently – and these were no exception.
I love monstera plants, as they remind me of the tropics, and I can’t believe how easy these were to make! I’m so happy with them.
For all of these plant-themed projects, I’m definitely in a bit of a creation fever with those so I’m sure there’ll be many more vines in the coming weeks.
Thank you to all of these tutorials, they were a joy to follow. Here are the videos and the channels listed for you:
